SCOPE:
Future of Timber is an initiative dedicated to one of the most urgent challenges of our time: how to meet the growing demand for timber in construction while ensuring our forests remain resilient and thriving.
As timber gains recognition as a low-carbon solution to the environmental impacts of the built world, the pressure on global forest systems continues to rise. Future of Timber addresses this tension by bringing together voices from across the supply chain — foresters, architects, engineers, processors, policymakers, and researchers — to explore how we can balance growth with stewardship.
The platform delves into the interconnected world of forest care, regenerative silviculture, and timber-based construction. At its core are the human stories — foresters nurturing new woodlands, designers redefining sustainable architecture, and policymakers shaping the systems that will sustain both forests and communities.
Key themes explored include:
Responsibility – Defining duties within the timber supply chain.
Radical Realism – Where visionary ideas meet practical constraints.
Investment – Understanding the interplay of finance, forestry, and production.
Bioregionalism – Building opportunities through localised timber supply.
Species – Examining how changing tree species can shape the industry’s future.
DELIVERY:
Future of Timber was conceived, filmed, photographed, edited, and curated by our in-house team to create a platform that is both visually striking, curiosity piquing, and deeply informative. Through breathtaking videography and photography, it celebrates the journey of timber from forest floor to finished structure, and reveals the care, craftsmanship, and creativity that underpin the industry.
Beyond storytelling, Future of Timber acts as a catalyst for change. It fosters collaboration across disciplines, encouraging discussion on new policies, innovative practices, and sustainable investment models. The platform serves as a meeting point for industry professionals and the wider public; a space where knowledge, inspiration, and action converge.
We are proud to have brought this vision to life with the support of Built by Nature, The Forestry Commission, Scottish Forestry Trust, and Egger. Together, we’ve created not just a showcase, but a movement — one that invites others to join us in shaping a timber future where both forests and communities can thrive.
